USSR Russische Ausstellung
07/05/2023 (Post 2)
**This post was meant for 07/05/23, I apologize for any inconveniences**
For my second post of the day, I found a poster design created by El Lissitzky. I discussed about his life and career in a previous post as well as for the designer from my other post from today. Information can be found in the source link below.
This poster was designed for a group called USSR. It is titled Russische Ausstellung. This poster is an example of Early Modern design because of the fact that the image that Lissitzky uses takes up a majority of the page/composition. Not many of the designs I have researched did include this kind of experimentation. Many designs include an image (or even several images), but they would take up the space of one corner of the design instead of the whole page (for example).
Russische Ausstellung is important to the Early Modernism movement because while this design was created more towards the beginning of the movement, designers were already creating excellent ideas in terms of what can make their designs better. As I have mentioned several times, Early Modernism was about experimenting with many different ideas, and seeing what could work best in terms of inventions (art, machines/technology, etc.)
Lissitzky, El. USSR Russische Ausstellung. 1929. Poster. Found the image on July 3rd, 2023. Found image information on https://hmadev.high.org/feature/disrupting-design-modern-posters-1900-1940/. Source: https://www.theartstory.org/artist/lissitzky-el/.
