Fortune (December 1946)
07/04/2023 (Post 2)
For my last post for today, I found another design created by Alvin Lustig. Information about him and his career can be found in my previous post along with the source link at the end of the article.
This Fortune magazine cover is an example of Early Modern design because of different reasons. First, while there are not many elements in this design, it is still constructed in a way that is organized and professionally appealing.
This cover is important to the Early Modernism movement because the only characteristic that isn't being seen is the use of sans-serif typography, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't automatically a part of Early Modernism. Another big characteristic of this movement is the fact that there was so much experimentation being done to explore new things. This background gradient is something new for these posts of mine. So being that this gradient was something new to the world of graphic design at the time, there must be so much more out there that we might not have explored yet.
