Vogue Spreads
06/26/2023 (Post 2)
For my second post, I will discuss the Vogue magazine spreads that Mehemed Fehmy Agha created in December 1939. This was around the time of WWII. These spreads are an example of Early Modern design because this is when Agha began to shine when it came to how his information could be displayed in a creative and unique way. Because he was considered the "pioneer of modern American publishing", he began to place images within the bleed of the spreads (which again was uncommon around this time period). Even one of the images goes within the spine of the magazine itself (center image).
These magazine spreads are important to Early Modernism because of how the images are placed, and the audience can also see that the text is one uniform box. The information relating to the text is in one section of the spreads and has a very minimalistic approach.
