Tea Drives Away The Droops

*This post was meant to be posted for 06/27/23, I apologize for any inconvenience!*
My first post for today is based on a design created by a previous graphic designer from this blog, Edward McKnight Kauffer. Information about his career and life can be found in the source.
Tea Drives Away The Droops is an example of Early Modern design because of the photograph of the woman that is included, along with the illustration of the tea pot. Something that I noticed in this design is that Kauffer decided to use the primary colors (and white) in this poster. I feel that it really gives the yellow color some vibrancy and really points out the text in the background (ex: the word "drives" is the same color as the blue background, so the box helps make the text legible). Something else that I noticed on this poster is that Kauffer uses two different typefaces, which isn't common from what I have explained and researched before.
This poster is important to Early Modernism because of what I mentioned about using two different typefaces. Even though this is something I haven't noticed from my research up until now, it is really important to see the effort of graphic designers going outside of the box, to create something that was considered "modern".
