Light

06/23/2023 (Post 1)

My first post of the day will be the conclusion to the poster series for the Rural Electrification Administration. This poster design is called Light. All information relating to this poster series and the graphic designer will be located in the links below.

Light is an example of Early Modern design because of the very similar look that all three of these posters share. The color scheme is even the exact same as Radio (which was a poster I had discussed yesterday). There are some differences between Radio and Light. First, is that instead of using arrows like in Radio, Beall decided to use very thin lines to represent light coming out of the little house. Second, he also had a more blocky/bulky approach with the background in Radio. In Light, Beall uses a very simple horizon to illustrate the outside world. These little changes create a new outlook on the designs and the poster series in general.

Light is important to Early Modernism because of the little differences between this poster and the others. While all three demonstrate similarities, it is also important to notice what Beall decided to change and perhaps make the next design more eye-catching to the audience in question.
