Direction
06/29/2023 (Post 2)
For my second post of the day, I decided to discuss a design called Direction by Paul Rand. All information relating to this design and graphic designer are linked below.
Direction is a magazine cover that Paul Rand had designed throughout his career. This cover is an example of Early Modern design because of how there are photographs included and a bright and vibrant color is included to give the design more emphasis. The color even works out with the dark text really well. While the type is a serif instead of a sans-serif, I still consider this design to be an important part of history within Early Modernism.
This magazine cover is an example of Early Modernism because of how Rand alters the photograph of the model that is included. The first photo is left alone, with no adjustments whatsoever. But, when the viewer see the second photograph, it's all broken up into pieces. As I research more and more graphic designs that relate to this time period, I am always intrigued to see what differences I can make to the designs I researched the day (or even week) before. I have been enjoying researching designs that belong in the world of Early Modernism so far!
