Cut Traveling Time (Victoria Line)

06/21/2023 (Post 2)

My second, and final post of the day, is about another poster design created by Tom Eckersley. Information about him and his career can be found in the source link below.

Eckersley's design, Cut Traveling Time (Victoria Line), is an example of Early Modern design because of the clean and consistent shapes within the illustration of the scissors being displayed. Also, because of the geometric approach with the typography of choice. Eckersley does a great job with creating a minimalistic view with this poster by including just one illustration and a small body of text, to direct the attention of the audience to the illustration ad the slogan(?) involved.

This poster is important to Early Modernism because of the continuing of experimentation and innovation to making graphic design new and exciting. Even though this design was created in the 1960s, there are still many reasons that this layout can belong in the modernism umbrella.
